About Me

When I was an electrical engineering student I built a small amp to bring along on the daily 4 hour round trip commute. I wanted the headphones on the bus to sound like they did when I plugged them into a stereo at home. Having a nice system really helped. A few months later the Pocket Amp 1 model was offered to others in the audio community. In time that has turned into the current PA2V2 model. The amps are all still hand made and there are now three people who help with things part time.

My favorite headphones

Here are some pictures of the Koss Porta Pros. These are my favorite headphones for under $50. If you get a chance to try these out some day please do, the frequency response is amazing. Just for fun try typing in “Koss Porta Pro Review” on a major search engine to read what other people from all around the world have written about them.

The Famous Koss Porta Pro Headphones! Yes, I will admit they have a unique look. After purchasing a pair of Porta Pros, and opening up the package for the first time, I thought to myself, “I paid $50 for this?” The headphones looked (and felt) a bit light and cheap. The incredible sound and comfort made up for all this though. I heard that Koss has not changed a thing about these headphones in over ten years. Koss puts the exact same Porta Pro drivers into the Sporta Pro and KSC 35 models. The KSC 50, 55, and 75 models use a version of the driver with a titanium coating and sound great too.

After use, I always return the headphones carefully to their spot hanging on the wall. I do not even use them outdoors anymore because they are just too nice. I can’t risk getting them ruined by high speed winds, dust, or rain. The above-right picture displays a thin green disk of extra sponge I put under each standard black foam pad. This makes the headphones extra comfortable on the ears and lets me wear them for really long listening periods, such as for four or more hours. I also stuck two grey felt squares on the headband for more comfort.

Note: I have not received any compensation or motives to write this page about the Koss Porta Pro headphones, I am simply sharing my knowledge and experience about this product for the reader’s benefit.

Good Deeds

The Following Contributions Have Been Made On Behalf Of Each Amplifier Owner.

A contribution towards the River Partners!

On behalf of each amplifier owner, some money has been  contributed to the River Partners! The River Partners is a nonprofit organization based in California. Their mission is to create wildlife habitat for the benefit of people and the environment. Since 1999 the River Partners have initiated riparian restoration on over 2000 acres, bringing precious life back into these areas.

A Maple tree has been planted!

A beautiful tree was planted in May, 2004 on behalf of everyone who owns one of the portable headphone amplifiers. As pictured to the left, the tree measured almost five feet tall before planting and had about 50 leaves on it. I bought this tree at the local Walmart. This Autumn Blaze Maple has a fast growth rate and can reach heights of up to 60 feet tall. After checking up on the tree after a few weeks, I am happy to report that is has grown a few inches taller! The tree seems to be doing quite well, with new leaves are coming up all over. It is very exciting to watch it grow, and more pictures will be taken in the future. I would like to plant more trees too. During the fall season, the Autumn Blaze Maple leaves turn a beautiful Scarlet red colour, as seen in the picture of a mature tree to the right.

A contribution to the Wetlands!

On behalf of everyone who owns one of these headphone amplifiers, some money has been contributed to protect the Earth’s Wetlands. Pictured is our confirmation letter. For over 65 years Ducks Unlimited Canada has been dedicated to the conservation of Wetlands and associated habitat for the benefit of North America’s waterfowl, wildlife, and people. Since 1938 they have positively influenced nearly 25 million Acres of Wetland habitat. Their website can be visited by clicking on the link below this paragraph.

The 1.3 acres of Rainforest we have all adopted!

On behalf of everyone who owns one of these headphone amplifiers, some money has been set aside to adopt 1.3 Acres of precious Rainforest. Pictured to the left is our certificate. This Acre of Rainforest was adopted through the Rainforest Alliance’s Adopt-A-Rainforest program. The Rainforest Alliance is based in New York City, with offices throughout the United States and worldwide. Their website can be visited by clicking on the button below this paragraph.
